Diggin Kate Bosworth's ultra casual yet sophisticated look

The combination of colors, the layers, the simplicity- these are all things that I'm seeing in this look that I think make it absolutely fantastic. Of course it helps that it's casual, and I'm all about that, yet somehow it's sophisticated too. Will I be creating my own rendition of it soon? You betcha!

A Personalized Necklace

My new favorite piece of jewelry item is one that cost me under $40, but let's not get side-tracked here, money isn't the issue I just couldn't help mentioning it though because come on, everyone loves a good deal.

I've never taken myself for a person who personalizes; personalized license plates annoy me, that comes to the forefront of my mind when I think of personalization. And I have to admit that my thoughts on personalized jewelry was not very good either and then all that changed when I had my son- funny how that happens. A couple months after my son was born I bought a necklace with his name on it (from My Name Necklace), I wear it anytime I can and I absolutely love it. I love that it means something dear and I love that I can wear him close to my heart (literally).

I'm Up For Saving As Much As The Next Person, But I Can't Help But Notice You Kinda Get What You Pay For

Excluding sales of course because even the best stores take on sales to get rid of the passing seasons stock of items. For example, just to make it clear what I'm talking about, buying a pair of corduroy pants at Old Navy for $30 isn't going to be the same as buying a pair of corduroy pants at Madewell for $70. The price difference is large and to some that's enough to walk into Old Navy and buy those corduroy pants but what does the price difference cover? the fit, the life time of the pants, the quality. It may not seem like much but I've been through quite a few cheaper pants in my day and lets just say those $20 skinny jeans that I thought I was getting a great deal on and so bought two pairs of two years ago are sitting in my closet hardly worn at all. How come they bunch at the knees? How come those pockets keep wanting to crawl out? How come the hips keep sliding down? How come they become overly loose after only a day of wearing them? Why do they smell like rubber?! Yes, I should have known what I was getting myself into by purchasing $20 pants. And the $70 or $90 jeans I bought from Madewell and Lucky Brand? They're comfortable, fit perfectly and they've last me without getting warped out of shape for how long? I've lost track of time with the good ones.

Yes, I'm all up for saving as much as the next fashion fanatic shopper but I can't help but notice that you kind of get what you pay for. Of course that isn't to say that everything that is pricey is the good quality I speak of, unfortunately there are a few stores out there who boast good quality in their price tag but are far from it (ahem, Zara)- this is unfortunate and makes life quite difficult when it comes to finding the items that are truly worthy of the price we are hesitant to pay. Luckily, the skilled buyer can always see with their own two eyes whether the quality is there and if you are not the skilled buyer I speak of you can thank the good fashion fairy for the internet and "consumer reviews".

The bottom line, you can easily spend twice or three times as much on repeatedly buying cheaper items that should have had a longer life in your wardrobe, oh if only you had just bought that $70 pair of skinny jeans.

Clark's, My New Favorite Brand?

Slip-ons that I love in style and comfort are never easy for me to find. I've got dancer's feet, I've danced for half my life and beneath these shoes, lets just say... Pedicures were probably invented because of feet like these. Years of dancing have left my feet slightly wider than most near the toes and because of this finding comfortable flats is nearly impossible. Often times I've felt that flats were specifically made for narrow feet. I've been wanting for a long time now a pair of good looking leopard print flats, before I decided to order a pair from Clark's (which I was hesitant to do because I had never heard of them before) I went through three other pairs which I always returned with no hesitation, they either looked a little weird and always did not fit right, meaning they were uncomfortable like crazy.

My order from Clark's came in, I tried them right away and fell in love with them instantly, INSTANTLY! Not only did the shoes look good and stank of good quality, they were oh Oh OH so comfortable, the soles are well cushioned rubber as well as the inside lining of the shoes, "breaking shoes in?!" They'll ask, you'll say, "What's that?"

For under a $100 at Amazon these shoes are the buy of the year. As for Clark's, I'll be frequenting their site often from now on, they've become my new favorite brand for shoes overnight and quite justly too.

Top 5 Things On My Christmas Wish List I Was Really Nice For This Year

I gave cash tips when I could, tried to be open-minded as much as possible, gave others the benefit of the doubt, etc etc. I was really nice this year because of the top 5 gifts on my Christmas wish list. Think I'll get them? We'll see.

1. Leopard print flats such as Clark's Valley Lounge...

Because they can give a sassy chic kick to my outfit, plus I'm really into leopard print right now.

2. Patent leather pumps such as Ivanka Trump's 'Indico' Pump...

Because a pair of black leather pumps are a basic closet must-have, they can be worn with pretty much anything including dresses, skirt, jeans, trousers- you name it and its got your back.

3. Oversized white shirt such as Zara's Oversized Shirt with Pockets...

Because it's super sexy and comfortable at the same time! I'm dying to pair it with leather leggings for super simple chic look.

4. Marc by Marc Jacobs 'Too Hot to Handle - Mini' Leather Drawstring Crossbody bucket bag...

Because it's cute! And I love the idea of a mini bucket bag opposed to the regular sized ones that always seems a little bit too big for the shape.

5. Barton Perreira Joplin sunglasses in Heroine Chic-Gold...

Because I love the tomboyish-ness of these sunglasses and just I just can't stay away from the tortoise shell frames!

All The Different Dos Of Jenna Malone

I just had to do this post of all the different hair-dos of Jenna Malone. I'm a hair freak myself, I've gone from long to shaved, pixie, faux hawk - you name it I've done it. I love being adventurous with my hair and the new attitude and wardrobe that can follow. So here's to being adventurous with hair!

Ooooo~ Nice Coat Sienna!

The winter season has me dreaming of coats, talking of coats and of course looking at coats. Here's one that I really like, the shaggy coat worn by Sienna Miller. I can see myself in that with a nice pair of jeans.

Tea of Perfume

So what is my current hobby as of late? Something that costs absolutely nil- that's the best part of it too especially since we all know how extravagantly expensive perfume can be. I've decided to collect choice sample bottles of perfume and put it, how cute is this? In a tea cup. I plan to display it in my guest bathroom where my lady friends can have a go at it when they come for a visit. I figure a spritz is something we can all enjoy.

Every Closet Must Have A Go-To Winter Coat

With my wimpy southern California skin that is used to feeling the warmth of the sun 90% of the year I have stashed in my closet a pea coat for the cooler season, winter. It is my third pea coat and it is my go-to coat for winter, it is the coat I wear almost everyday during the season.  The pea coat has always been my go-to because it allows me to pair it casually with jeans or trousers or pair it with a cute dress and tights. It is durable, chic and hip. What is your go-to winter coat?

I love This Edgy Rock 'N Roll Look Worn By Nicole Richie

Nicole Richie is no longer that awkward side kick of Paris Hilton's, who knew back then that she would rise to become a style icon with a rather large following. I freely admit that I love Richie's bohemian style although I'm not actually one myself, I equally absolutely love this rocker chic look.

The Perfect Lip Stain And Blush For Au Natural

So lets not get confused, this is NOT nail polish! I know it totally looks like it and I have to say that it even feels weird putting it on because it literally feels like you're putting nail polish on your cheeks and lips but it's not. Cha Cha Tint is a staining product meant to be used on lips and cheeks, I just purchased one recently and have been using it everyday. If you don't like to wear too much makeup or more of an au natural gal then you're probably going to lovvvve this. It really does give a natural glow to the cheeks and the lips... and get this... it lasts all day. It's my new favorite makeup item.

The Quilted Sweatshirt is so the BOMB

I know the quilted thing was all over the runway in recents shows but have they really caught on? I don't actually know if they have but I think this Hive & Honey Quilted Sweatshirt with striped detailing at the cuffs is absolutely bomb (did I just say "bomb"?... I just had to!)

Really Diggin' The Vintage Style Tortoise Shades

Drifter shades in tortoise? Hell Yea! Rocking the nerdy glasses seems to be a thing these days but the Drifter Shades from Madewell are just plain cool, so nerdy so cool? It's like nerdy + tortoise = totally Phat, right? Or is it just me. I want them!  I think it would make an awesome addition to my ever growing collection of sunglasses.

Getting Ready For Christmas And Getting Those Stocking Stuffers In Line

STOCKING STUFFERS
FOR HER

My family doesn't usually do stocking stuffers for Christmas but the couple of times I did get them I was definitely less than pleased with the stuffing. Socks? Keychains? Candy? What?! I suppose they were all very helpful but c'mon! When I think of stocking stuffers I think of fun stuff, so... I've found the perfect stocking stuffers for Christmas this year and I found them all at one place!

1.  A cute bow headband such as the Cooperative Bow Headwrap ($12)

2.  A Simple Cute Wallet such as the Magic Print Wallet ($6)

3.  Initial Stud Earrings such as the Bold Initial Stud Earrings ($8)

4.  Pocket Eye Lash Curlers such as Japonesque Pocket Eyelash Curlers ($13)

5.  Fruity Lip Gloss such as Tonymoly 7 Fruit Princess Lip Gloss ($12)

6.  Perfume Bar such as Tonymoly Hello Bunny Perfume Bar ($14)

A Look I Can Get Behind 100%

The metallic skirt paired with the casual hip pullover minimal sweater is a look I can totally get behind. It's casual, comfortable and yet downtown chic.

Michelle Williams Reminds Me That We All Need A Little Black Dress

Michelle Williams looking beautifully cute and coy in her little black dress complete with little bow details and peep toe heels reminds me that I need a little black go-to night-out dress. It's one of those every wardrobe must-haves.

My Long Ago Grunge Days Haunt Me

I remember when Winona Ryder was the IT girl.  Dazed and Confused and Reality Bites were the movies that imitated current life... kind of, or so we wished. Doc Martins, cardigans and makeup free faces with only bold red lips were the hottest thing. These are the things that I remember when I see the printed dress with lace trim from Zara, does it make me want to buy it and relive those moments? Umm... yes.

The Perfect Wallet For The Really Simple Girl

I have a collection of purses that I use occasionally unlike my sister who has a collection of purses that she uses everyday, she'll swap out the purses daily to go with her outfit. I'm the girl who tries to go out without a purse, I'll fit everything into my pockets carrying only the necessities, more often than not I find that the purse, bag or whatever you call it gets in the way, especially at concerts.

So, here is the perfect wallet for the really simple girl, me, the Magic Print Wallet at Urban Outfitters. If cash, id and credit card is all I need tonight then this is all I'll need. This is definitely on the top of my to-get list.

Who's Style I'm Really Diggin'

I don't consider myself to be very girly and in fact am pretty much the exact opposite of that. Most of the clothes in my closet are black and I tend to wear pants, maybe an occasional dress or skirt if the occasion calls for it, even so I'm really diggin Jessica Day's style from the show New Girl. Lets face it her wardrobe is cute! Filled with bows, vintage dresses, laces, pleated skirts, wool stockings and even a Packman skirt! Awesome.

Home Slippers Found!

My house has wooden floors, my house is almost a 100 years old so you can only imagine what the insulation is like, my feet get cold, my feet are cold... most of the time anyways, blame it on poor circulation.

I have been looking for a nice pair of house slippers and of course nice house slippers are hard to come by, most of them are open toe sandals with plaid print- ew. Thankfully I popped onto the Urban Outfitters site and checked in on their new arrivals which just happen to include beautiful Boudoir Slippers!  Cold feet be gone!

OMG I'm In Love With ASOS, The Shopping Site

So I've known about the fashion shopping site ASOS for quite some time but never actually used it for shopping and quite frankly barely took a look at it. However, recently I've been looking for a particular kind of bag and have been looking everywhere for it (from home, meaning online). I knew the print that I wanted, the size I wanted it to be and a general idea of the style I was looking for. I looked everywhere, Nordstroms, Piperlime, Shopbop, Planet Blue etc etc. Couldn't find it anywhere. And really the most annoying thing I came across was that I had an idea of the amount ($$$) I wanted to spend and wherever I looked either there was no selection or the prices were too high. Perhaps if there had been a larger selection there may have been more varying prices- who knows. Anyways. After three days of perusing the shops on line looking for this bag I finally ended up at ASOS and found the bag! The great thing about ASOS is that there is a large selection of everything! And of course in a large range of prices, so you may put in that you only want to spend upto $50 for a certain item and you'd expect there only to be a few choices... not at all, there are tons of choices! That's what I love about ASOS, it doesn't let you down, it's like fashion heaven online. Now I know, and it'll be the first place I look next time.

What I'm Currently Loving At Madewell Right Now

The Brushed Oversized Coat! A part of me thinks I must be getting older and with it my taste in clothes more sophisticated because I never use to love this style of cocoon shaped coats before. I can't help but be taken with the classic shape that is forever timeless.

Where else am I seeing it?  At Asos.
